Epic Ramp Foraging & Wild Foods Luncheon.

Join founding naturalist Laura Chávez Silverman on an extensive and lovingly tended private ramp patch along a beautiful stretch of the Upper Lenape aka Delaware River. (With any luck, the toads will be mating!) We’ll walk the bountiful land—where nettles, fiddleheads and morels also thrive—and learn from the owner/farmer about proper techniques for both planting and harvesting ramps to ensure long-term sustainability. Each participant will then dig up to two pounds of ramps to take home along with signature recipes from The Outside Institute. Enjoy a fun day of learning, spending time outdoors in community and sampling delicious wild flavors—and this year it coincides with Mother’s Day, so take advantage of this wonderful and unique way to celebrate!

A wildcrafted menu of foraged food and drink will be served, featuring locally harvested ingredients such as ramps, nettle, toothwort, magnolia, black walnut, chaga, cattail, knotweed, wild mushrooms and spicebush. Space is limited; advance registration is required.

Location: Equinunk, PA. Full details will be emailed to participants.

Of note: This is a rain or shine event. Participants should anticipate muddy conditions and dress accordingly.
