Guided Walk & Botanical Cocktails
Join founding naturalist Laura Chávez Silverman to kick off the holiday weekend with a fun and edifying experience that will leave you in high spirits. First, we’ll walk along the river in Barryville, savoring the balmy summer air, listening to the birdsong and exploring all the plants of this riparian landscape, many of them edible and medicinal. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of the local ecosystem and how native and introduced species interact.
We’ll wind up at charming and expertly curated Cottage Wines for a tasting of cocktails and mocktails handcrafted with wild-foraged ingredients such as black locust, elderflower, mugwort, knotweed, spruce, crabapples and ramps, as well as some crisp summer wines and delectable seasonal nibbles. You’ll take home a few signature recipes. Space is limited; registration is required.
Location: Meeting at the outpost, 3344 Route 97, and ending at Cottage Wines, 3432 Route 97.
