Guided Nature Walk - Sunday, June 8th, 2-4pm

Join founding naturalist Laura Chávez Silverman for a walk as part of ROAM, a multi-day walking adventure along the Sullivan O&W Rail Trail. We’ll meet at the Mamakating Environmental Education Center (MEEC) in Wurtsboro, NY, and walk the flat 2-mile stretch to the Basha Kill Vineyard. You’ll learn about the flora, fauna and fungi along this route, including edible and medicinal properties and proper foraging techniques. Sharpen your identification skills and deepen your connection to the local landscape in this gorgeous part of the county. (And maybe stop in at the vineyard for a little wine at the end!)

Of note: The MEEC is located at 2948 Route 209 in Wurtsboro, NY. If you drive there, a shuttle will be on hand to take you back to your car. Please be sure to wear good walking shoes and come prepared with sunscreen, bug spray and a water bottle.
