Saturday, August 24th, 2-6pm.

Foraging 101: Excursion & Workshop, Session 5.

This is part of a series offered by Founding Naturalist Laura Silverman to introduce fellow naturalists to the ancient skill of foraging. We will venture out as a group to different landscapes to search for and sustainably harvest wild edibles in season. Then, we will return to Laura’s home in Eldred, NY, to learn about processing and preparation of the harvest, including methods of cooking and preservation. And we will share some delicious treats crafted by Laura with wild-foraged ingredients. Advance registration is required.

The August 24th session may include wild mushrooms, milkweed flowers, autumn olives, mayapple and other late-ripening fruit. Due to weather and other environmental factors, it is difficult to predict exactly what we will find, but the hunt is part of the learning curve.

Location: Sullivan County, NY. Exact meeting place will be emailed to participants.

Of note: Limited to 10 people. We will be outside rain or shine. Terrain will be relatively easy on most excursions.
